My Summer Vacation 2018 :: Part Cinco of Five (The State of Maine :: Maine Quilts)

August 29 2018,

So here is the main part of the quilt show. I started from the left corner and worked my way through each aisle.

I couldn't find my show book, I must have recycled it - I don't know if there were descriptions in it or not.

Another pet peeve, I didn't think the index cards and binder clips were professional. I don't know what other type of card stock they could have used, but it just looked cheap. The binder clip, I wish they would have used clothes pin.

The stickers here weren't that professional either, but that's just me. I felt like I was looking at youth quilts, and these were not youth quilts.

I seem to be drawn towards purple quilts. Love this one called "Tri Reultan" by Janet E. Knapp.

This was a bigger quilt, so it was a quilt that was difficult to photograph.

Front of quilt.

Back of quilt. Love that it is a two sided quilt. Notice that the top of the quilt had to be folded over to keep it off the ground. I did not notice it till today.

Another wonderful quilt, "Dogs on the Reservation - Finding Their Way Home" by Allie Brown.
I love how askew it is, and she put in seminole patchwork on the bottom and right side of the quilt, and the zig zag binding is awesome.

The machine quilting is spectacular.

The binding beautiful.

And she did not over jeweled the quilt. I have seen some recently that are over jeweled, and yah, it's pretty, but don't over do it.

Another favorite of mine, "Peony" by Sarah Ann Smith. Here is her blog that she wrote in 2016 about this quilt. There is also a video on it.

That picture of the hand means that the quilt was hand quilted.

Another beautiful one. "Golden Feathers" by Katherine Collins.

"The Poet's Darling" also by Katherine Collins. I wonder if she does custom quilting.  Would love to connect with her.

Another favorite, "Fishing with Jim" by Frances R. Posick

I love the attention to detail.

You see the small seed beads?

Op. This one is doing it's quilting circuit. "Circle of Geese" by Nancy LaPointe was just at VQF <see my blog about VQF>. Yes, I still want to take this one home with me.

"The Jester's Folly" by Margaret Soloman Gunn has been winning awards since 2015. <Story of the quilt from her blog>

Her quilting is exceptional. I can't compete at the level that she is. Unfortunately, the type of quilts I make (itty bitty pieces with a lot of seams and batik fabrics) she will not take in. I understand. I understand. My loss.

"Judgement of Osiris" Georgia S. Pierce has also been through the quilting circuit. I hope it continues on the quilting circuit so that everyone can see how beautiful this quilt is.

Another one that makes my heart melt. "My Version of a Persian" by Christine Wickert. This was seen a last year at VQF. This one a lot of awards, and rightly so.

"Granny's Doggie was a Digger" by Frances R. Posick was cute.

This was her sleeve at the back of the quilt, it had a picture of a dog digging. Oh how cute.

More soon.

Thanks for sharing! I’ve never made it to this show— looks like it is well worth the trip.
