Show + Tell :: Mosaic Art III + IV

April 25 2015,

Been working on more mosaic wood art. Here are the two latest wood art.

Both of these measure approximately 22" x 11".

On these two, I did a satin coat on them unlike the first mosaic wood art and the second mosaic wood art.

Hubby preferred the glossy look versus the matte look. I think I prefer the matte look. It's easier to clean this with the clear coat on.

Show + Tell :: Mosaic Art II

August 10 2014,

This wood art was finally assembled this weekend. The pieces were sitting around and it was suppose to be done with the other Mosaic Wood Art but I was not motivated, so it sat.

I finally sold the other wood art. The next day, another person asked if it was still available, and I told the person that it had already been sold. So I decided to finish this this project.

This measures 20" x 18".

This is my method on how to put weight on the pieces while the glue settles. I did not have enough clamps - so the next best thing was a package of soda that I had in the garage. Note - that Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper and Sprite did not provide these sodas. This was bought by me at the supermarket.

What projects are you working on?

Stay tuned for a bench that is approximately a year in the making. :)

Show + Tell :: Mosaic Art

May 14 2014,

I finally got off my lazy ass and took pictures of this.

This wood art was done last fall - but I never took the time to attach hanging hardware onto it in to hang it. Finally it's done.

Can you locate the orange, green, yellow, and red paint that was from the closet doors?

Show + Tell :: Fireplace Cover

August 21 2013,

Last year I made a headboard and since then it's been installed. Below are the pictures of the final product in it's place.

After much success with the first wood working project, hubby insisted I make something for the fireplace hole in the basement.

We have never used the fireplace in the basement, nor the one in the living room, so to fill in the hole, we decided to make another board. Below is the picture of the basement area right after we moved in, almost 3 years ago.

Below is the fireplace board in it's place. This thing was so heavy that we had to recruit our neighbor to help carry this mofo downstairs.

Pretty ain't it?

Show + Tell :: It's All In Your Head

December 11 2012,

A few months ago I was surfing on the interweb and found a piece of art work that I love. I came across this blog, Salvage Love, art made out of wood. I decided to make one, but I was going to make a headboard instead of wall art.

Of course, I had to start big. Why start small when one can start big?

So I bought all the wood, cut it to size with a circular saw, primed it, and painted it. Most of the colors either came from our current collection of paint, or bought at a paint store that were "rejects" (the price ranged from .50 cents to $1.00 for a sample size), or from other people who no longer needed their paints.

Below is the layout that I had designed. This was done on foam mats so that it did not scratch the floor. This sat for 5 months while we figured out what table saw to get.

Five months later, hubby helped build out the foundation which consist of a 1/2" back board and with two posts serving as legs. Because the board was a little bit warped, we put a 2x4 piece of wood across the back of the board. Next I glued the pieces to the back board. The gluing process took less than 2 hours.

Below is the finish result. Now we have to find a queen size bed frame and mount it on.

Pretty ain't it?

Presents Galore

December 6 2012,

I celebrated a birthday right after Thanksgiving. Below are my birthday presents. These purchases were large items, so they will also be considered as Christmas presents too. We purchased a seocndary stove for the kitchen, an electric slide in stove to replace the hole we had in the kitchen. Our other gas stove was originally in this hole, but due to feng shui reason was moved to the other side of the kitchen. Instead of buying cabinets and granite, another stove was more useful. Now we have three stoves in the house, two in the main kitchen, and one downstairs.

Below is a table saw that I got from my brother-in-law's family. Yes, I wanted a table saw.

After looking and doing a bunch of research, we upgraded from the one above to the one below.

After spending two afternoons trying to figure out how to assemble this thing, we now have a table saw. We are proud to say that we have no left over parts, and the table saw works.

All I have to do now is learn how to use this thing. Yes, I will be very careful and try not to lose any fingers.

As an extra surprise, I received this special mug from OMGWTF. It says, "You Make My Day When You GO AWAY." A piece of art isn't it? Thanks OMGWTF.

Off to finishing the headboard.
