Some of you may have read my other "Dirty Little Secret" post about my quilting area setup. So for this quilt, I decided to change it a bit, mainly because I have to make sure that the pieces for the quilts are in exact order. And to minimize walking from one side of the room to get the pieces and then the other side of the room in front of the television to sew, I moved the sewing area to where the fabrics are laid. I know, I know, it looks messy.
Legend for below:
- My trusty Kenmore sewing machine with my Aurifil 2000 color cone. We won't talk about the lemon Pfaff that I got, it's in time-out currently, and may be staying in here for a while.
- Pieces of quarter square triangles laid out in a particular order ready to be sewn together.
- A not so sturdy rolling "table" protected by those foam stuff with pieces of wood underneath the table so that the table won't roll. When I sew on this stand, the whole machine moves because the stand is not sturdy. This is actually a good thing because it reminds me to sew slow, so that I don't feel like I am on a roller coaster.
- The back of my very first quilt, I will show the front of it someday.
Legend for below:
- Ironing board to put my ironing equipment. I have two irons, one is a Rowenta iron, and the other small red / white iron is Clover's Mini Iron II. This little iron is a life saver. I can iron seams open more easily due to the smaller head it has. Yes, I am nuts, I am ironing ALL the seams open (1200 quarter square triangles in total). Mind you, that's not 1200 open seams, because that's for the individual blocks only. Then you have to iron the open seems when you join them all together. I don't think I can calculate how many seams that is, but if you figure it out, let me know. It is 30 blocks long by 40 blocks wide. Each block is 2 1/2 inches unfinished.
- My other ironing board. The more sturdier board of the two.
- The footstool that I sit on to sew.

you know, it's a lot of fun to make a mess while you make stuff.
The cleanup is even better. There is a sense of satisfaction!
