Inflation?

July 8 2011,

There has been no post lately because I have been busy creating quilts. One is almost finished, and will be showecased sometime next week, and the other two are being prepared for quilting.

In addition, hubby and I have been landscaping one area of the yard. I'll post up pictures soon when it is a sunnier day.

I received this news clipping from my mother-in-law.

Note that this advertisement is from the Yankee magazine dated June 1960. I looked to see if this nursery was still around, and it is.

The prices now are as follows:
100 for $43.00 versus $8.95 in 1960
200 for $85.00
500 for $200.00
1000 for $385.00 versus $69.50 in 1960

Interesting isn't it?

Inflation...

Minimum wage in CA was less than $5.00 when I first started working. It's $8.00 now, but that's not enough to keep up with rising costs. :-( Gas was $2.00 back then, too.

Aww, I'm reminiscing. I feel old. Gonna go sit on the porch and yell at kids to get off my lawn now.
