Show + Tell :: It's All In Your Head

December 11 2012,

A few months ago I was surfing on the interweb and found a piece of art work that I love. I came across this blog, Salvage Love, art made out of wood. I decided to make one, but I was going to make a headboard instead of wall art.

Of course, I had to start big. Why start small when one can start big?

So I bought all the wood, cut it to size with a circular saw, primed it, and painted it. Most of the colors either came from our current collection of paint, or bought at a paint store that were "rejects" (the price ranged from .50 cents to $1.00 for a sample size), or from other people who no longer needed their paints.

Below is the layout that I had designed. This was done on foam mats so that it did not scratch the floor. This sat for 5 months while we figured out what table saw to get.

Five months later, hubby helped build out the foundation which consist of a 1/2" back board and with two posts serving as legs. Because the board was a little bit warped, we put a 2x4 piece of wood across the back of the board. Next I glued the pieces to the back board. The gluing process took less than 2 hours.

Below is the finish result. Now we have to find a queen size bed frame and mount it on.

Pretty ain't it?

Hi Regan, Thank you for your compliments. A matching quilt, that's an idea!

Good question. We ripped the foundation of the board on the table saw. Cut the two post to size on it too. Other than that, sadly, nothing. I am trying not to think of a project yet, because I am working on a quilt one, which is not happening fast enough. :)
