Our Amazon Prime Membership expired late last month.
Due to the $20.00 increase in price, we will not be renewing. Does $20.00 really make a difference in our day to day life? No it doesn't.
According to Forbes, "60% Of U.S. Amazon Customers Will Not Renew Their Prime Membership, Poll Reveals" published on May 9th, 2018.
I can still get free shipping if I order $25.00 of "items sold and fulfilled by Amazon", and it takes a little bit longer, 5-8 business days. But if we plan it right, it will not make much of a difference weather we have prime or not. If we "just gotta have it", our next door neighbor has Amazon Prime - so we can always have them buy for us.
I do use Amazon's "Prime Music". I have found other places I can get free music, such as Slacker Radio, youtube, and my own collection of music. Oh - as of 10/09/2018 - you can listen to SiriusXM for free on your computer or devices. Yipeee, perfect timing.
So - bye bye Amazon Prime for now - let's see how long we can last without renewing our membership. If Amazon does decide to decrease their membership fee, we'll give it a minute to think about it. But if you have customers that are used to not having the prime membership... even if the price is much lower, they may not come back.
