Show + Tell :: Through the Woods and Into the Forest + Circles in Heaven

September 15 2011,

Remember this quilt? It was posted on May 21, 2011 called "Through the Woods". It's other half called, "Into the Forest" is finally done. Originally, this quilt was not suppose to be two separate quilts, but one piece. I had folded the foreground fabric (the brown one) incorrectly resulting in two separate pieces instead of one piece. Remember the "Circling" quilt, this was technically suppose to look like that. Lesson learnt.

Remember the blue and orange fabric that I bought in June? Below is the outcome. The quilt is called, "Circles in Heaven". The design is from a book call "Chinese Lattice Designs with over 1200 illustrations" by Daniel Sheets Dye page 461, the symbol "...is an allover of the interlocked circle of heaven, where the hollow square simulates the square of earth." I chose to make 8 of these because in Chinese, the number 8 signifies prosperity and wealth.

All hand appliqued and hand quilted.

Below is a quilt that was created earlier this year. A friend had bought the orange fabric for me, and the fabric resulted in the creation of "Orbit". Originally it was not suppose to look like this. But since I designed the template incorrectly, se la vie. The two hollow large circles in the middle were not suppose to be hollow but instead interlocking circles. Oh well, another lesson learnt. This is also hand appliqued and hand quilted.

Thank you, yes they are similar to crop circle designs, I do sometimes get my inspiration from crop circles. :)
