Quilt Show :: Quilter' Connection 2009

May 30, 2009

Went to a local quilt show put on by the "Quilter's Connection" this morning. Saw a bunch of quilts, and below are a few of my favorites.

Below is a small quilt which I love. This one is called "Golden Ginko II" by Joyce Potter. Oh what a beauty this one is. I love the way she quilts the quilt.

From the quilt show I went to Chinatown to pick up a few grocery items. I drove back home via on Solder's Field Road. It was a sunny day which usually means state troopers will probably be patrolling the road where the speed limit is only 35 mph, but driver's usually drive 50 mph on average on that road. Ta dah, turns out two state troopers on the other side of the road were radaring, and one was doing a U-turn behind me, and half a mile down, another trooper was hiding behind the bushes radaring. My instinct was right. No speeding ticket for me today.
I continued driving onto my favorite rotary where no one ever yields. And viola, a black honda did not yield so I opened my window and educationally informed her that she had a yield back there. She stared at me blankly. I told her again, that she had a yield, and again she stared at me blankly. Exactly. Driver's here do not understand the definition of the word yield. I just smiled and inched up a bit. I heard her say "Chinese... [something]", but did not hear the other word. Must have been a racist statement, and I brushed it off because I did not know what she said. Oh well, her loss.

Thanks for posting the quilts from the show you visited. I did this after going to the Empire State Quilt Show in New York City at FIT this past March. I'll also be going to the NJ State guild show next week so I'll put up some pics on my blog. I love to get to see other quilt shows this way.

Hi Janet,

Thanks for stopping by. I too enjoy looking at other people's blogs to see quilts from shows that I can't attend. But at the same time, pictures on a webpage usually do not give justice to the detail of the quilt. So every chance I get, I try to go to a local quilt show.

Great quilts! And good luck on your Etsy venture, you do some beautiful work and I'm sure others will recognize it, too.

And also, regarding the "yield": no good deed goes unrewarded... :-)
